The 3M glass fibre mesh reinforces bonds with the 3M plastic repair material. The self-adhesive tape is applied to the area to be repaired before the adhesive is applied. The repair material penetrates the mesh structure of the fabric and thus gains more strength during curing. This results in a significantly more stable bond.

The best bonding results are achieved if you pre-clean the parts to be bonded, then roughen them (e.g. with Scotch-Brite 7447) and clean them again.
